How it works
The Back Health Score
A short self-assessment that takes around 90 seconds. It places you on one of three pathways — Foundation, Developing, or Resilience — so that your content is always matched to where you actually are.
Calendar-intelligent scheduling
Connect your Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook and Back Coach reads only the timing and duration of your meetings — nothing else. It uses that information to calculate your daily physical load and find the best moments to prompt movement.
Smart Breaks
Short, evidence-informed movement sessions delivered at the right moment. Not timer reminders. Back Coach watches your calendar and prompts you when there is a genuine opportunity to move.
“The right movement, at the right moment — not a notification you have learned to ignore.”
For organisations
For employers and insurers
A measurable MSK risk intervention — not a wellness perk.
Back Coach is deployed by employers and insurers as a structured workplace back health programme. Every desk-based employee receives calendar-intelligent Smart Breaks throughout their working day. The platform stratifies your workforce by back health risk — Foundation, Developing, and Resilience — and tracks movement over time, producing anonymised, population-level outcomes data your HSE and finance teams can report against. First measurable platform indicators within 90 days — pathway migration, workstation risk scores, and Smart Break compliance — giving HSE and finance teams reportable data before absence figures move.
Employees
If you sit at a desk for most of your working day, Back Coach gives you a structured, personalised approach to managing your physical load — without disrupting your work.

How we use your calendar
Connecting your Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook Calendar is entirely optional. If you choose to connect it, Back Coach requests read-only access to your calendar events for the current day only.
We use this access for one purpose: to calculate your daily meeting load and find genuine gaps where a Smart Break can be delivered, so we can deliver Smart Breaks at moments when you are genuinely free to move.
What we do not do
- —We do not read the titles, descriptions, attendees, or locations of your calendar events.
- —We do not store calendar event content.
- —We do not share your calendar data with your employer or any third party.
- —We do not use your calendar data for advertising or profiling.
You can disconnect your calendar at any time in Settings. When you disconnect, your access token is immediately deleted.
Back Coach’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle your data.
